Mission Statement
The Juggers Racing Team has established a scholarship program to encourage and reward high school students who race at Sonoma Raceway instead of on the street, and to help them achieve their goals both on the track and in their post high school education.
Sources of Funds
The Juggers Racing Team Scholarship Award will be at least $500 each year. Funds for the scholarship were seeded by K. C. Anderson as a memorial for Bob Lowenstein in 2018. Additional funds are made available each year from individual donations and from money earned from the 50/50 raffle held each month at the regular meeting. Funds from the raffle are to be used for the free tech card program, the trophy and annual High School Race awards, and related expenses approved by the members. Remaining funds will be used for the Scholarship Program. Any shortfall between the scholarship minimum of $500 and that funded by the raffle will be made up from the general treasury of the Juggers Racing Team. Any excess over the scholarship minimum and the amount remaining from the fund will be added to the Scholarship Award for subsequent years and for increasing the annual award.
Who Is Eligible
One scholarship will be awarded each year to one high school senior who is enrolled at least ¾ time in a college, trade school or equivalent accredited educational program and has participated in the Sonoma Raceway Wednesday Night Drags program in the High School Class prior to the date the student’s application is submitted. The Award will be given by August 1 each year to a qualified high school Senior who has submitted the application by June 30.
What constitutes a qualified accredited educational program, whether a student is enrolled, whether the student is or was most previously a high school senior, and whether the application has been submitted in accordance with the above is determined solely at the discretion of the Juggers Racing Team High School Program Committee.

Scholarship Award Criteria
The members of the Scholarship Committee will individually review each application and score them 1 to 5 using each of the following criteria:
- GPA
- Teacher/Principle/Counselor and other recommendations
- Volunteer activities
- Number of times participating in qualifying races
- Essay of between 250 and 1000 words indicating why the student should be awarded the scholarship. 10 or 15 over or under are OK.
Each committee member assigns a numerical score from 1 to 5 to each criteria for that applicant. A score of 1 is Less than Adequate, 3 is Adequate and 5 is Exceptional. 2 or 4 are scores between those labels. The scores of each criteria are added and a total score from 5 to 25 is determined for each applicant. Scores of all committee members are added to determine the grand total score for that applicant.
Highest grand total score wins the scholarship.
In the unlikely event of a tie, the score on number of times participating in qualifying races will be the first tie breaker, and the essay score will be the second tie breaker.
The Scholarship Committee
Co-Chair Persons of the High School Program Committee are currently John Lewis and Larry Grimes. The members of the Committee are the current Juggers officers ex officio, and two other members, who currently are K. C. Anderson and Tom Clothier. All members of the High School Program Committee score each scholarship applicant individually.
