The card above summarizes the various NHRA safety requirements and SFI specs for different classes of race vehicles. It is published for all NHRA members at nhraracer.com along with the complete rule book and any amendments that have been issued after the rule book is published. As with all information of this kind, use it only as a guide, and check with NHRA for any updates or changes. This card was posted on February 16, 2019. Thank our friends at the 24 Hours of Lemons for the following:
CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION RECALLS MILLIONS OF KIDDE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
Nearly 40 million plastic handled Kidde fire extinguishers recalled for nozzle detachment and failure to discharge.
After more than 400 reports of failure and at least one death attributed to malfunction, Kidde has recalled 37.8 million fire extinguishers. The recall covers dozens of models of plastic-handled and push-button "Pindicator" extinguishers, some of which date back decades and may have been recalled before (so they probably found their way into Lemons cars and garages).
Read the details of the recall and check the list of recalled products from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, then take appropriate action to make sure your fire bottles are ready to work when you need them to. Remember that it is up to you to make sure your all your safety equipment is compliant and up to date, so check your bottles and get them replaced if they are on the list.
