I want to give you all an up date on what I have found out on the JBT Project.
I went over to Pierre’s shop and took a look at the chassis, it seems to be a very nice piece and is a top of the line chassis.
I spoke to Harold a couple of times about the car. It was designed as a 1975 Buick Sky Hawk. That is a GM “H” body style, which includes the Pontiac Astre, Sunbird, Oldsmobile Starfire, Chevy Monza and the Chevy Vega. It is too bad the body is not around any more. It had a chopped top with a 5” or so windshield.
Note from JJL - A body has been located and we are making arrangements to inspect and purchase for no more than $300.
I also spoke to Steve at Proformance Fab about the other parts he may still have around for the chassis, like the rear-end housing, front end, etc. Steve will look around in the next couple of days and let me know if he finds anything.
I had 10 guys that showed an interest in the project so if I missed you in my original email let me know.
This project would be a great way to fill your Bucket List for Bonneville. We will need people to work on, and to crew and drive, not to mention the people to donate parts and or money.
Harold sent me the drawings of what he thought the car would look like when done. They are posted here. What a good looking and slippery aerodynamic car. I will get a copy framed for the wall at Round Table.
This car would run Competition Coupe / Sedan * /##CC * = engine size , # = -Blown Fuel * /BFCC or Gas */BGCC or just Fuel */FCC or Gas */GCC
The 2011 record for C/FCC is 269.590 MPH, set in 1997. The engine size is 306.00 to 372.99 cid.
